In 1905, men with pickaxes and explosives carved out a chunk of the earth here. Legend has it that during one such blast, a hidden spring was ruptured. Water gushed in with such force that the quarry workers barely escaped, leaving their tools behind to be swallowed by the rising water. The quarry, abandoned, transformed into the lake you see before you. Today, Prokopské jezírko is a peaceful oasis. It even played a role in Czech cinema. Remember the iconic scene from the film “Pelíšky” where the character describes shooting a diver? That scene, with its memorable line about a man with a wicker basket, was filmed right here.
