Before us lies the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir. It was completed in 1863. Imagine a city grappling with water shortages. The government offered a reward. It was for a solution to this crisis. S.B. Rawling, a clerk, proposed a reservoir in Pok Fu Lam Valley. His idea won. The Pok Fu Lam Reservoir became Hong Kong’s first.
The park is at the foot of Victoria Peak. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department has worked to green the valley. Non-native species like slash pine thrive. Native trees such as Hong Kong Gordonia also flourish.
Look around. This area is a haven for diverse wildlife. Over sixty bird species call this park home. You might spot magpies or black kites. Keep an eye out for Pallas’s squirrels. They are scurrying through the trees. If you are lucky, you might glimpse a Chinese porcupine.

The Peak Circle Walk is a 4-km loop. It starts near Victoria Peak. Lugard Road offers amazing views of Victoria Harbour. This path overlaps with the Pok Fu Lam Native Tree Walk. Here, you will find Chinese banyan and camphor trees.
