Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School is located at 2 Tai Pa Street in Tsuen Wan. The school’s history began in 1979. The school was officially opened on December 12th 1980. The Education Department’s Mr Tao Jian managed the opening.
In July 1979 a new school building was reassigned. In September of the same year the school officially began teaching. It had 16 classes. Mr Chen Zhaoming was appointed principal. The school consisted of one principal. There were eight teachers. It also included one laboratory assistant. Two officers and three school janitors completed the staff.
In March 1980 the school held its first guardian date. By September the school had eight level one classes. It also had two level two classes. There were more than 500 students. In November 1980 the first land transportation event was held. It took place in the Kuiyong athletic field.
By September 1981 Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School had 24 classes. These classes spanned from level one to four. The student population increased to over 900. 1984 saw the first graduation ceremony.
In August 1986 the Certificate of Education Examination qualified rate rose to 83.6%. In September 1997 Mr Chen Zhaoming retired. Assistant Director Li Minbiao took over as principal of Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School.
Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School uses English as the major medium of instruction. It is a co-educational secondary school. The school is estimated as Band 1B. This indicates high academic accuracy.
In September 1998, the freshman class implemented mother tongue teaching. A foreign English teacher Mr Stephen Woods was hired.
In March 2000, the entire school was networked. All computers including the server were connected to the internet. Today, Po On Commercial Association Wong Siu Ching Secondary School continues to thrive. It provides quality education to the students of Tsuen Wan.
