Why does this spot feel so special? It is Plaża Rusałka. This beach offers the most beautiful views of the Royal Castle and the Old Town.

Plaża Rusałka is not just sand and water. It is a place steeped in history and offers a unique perspective on Warsaw. In the 1960s, this was a popular spot. People flocked here to enjoy the sun and the Vistula River.

Today, Plaża Rusałka continues to be a vibrant recreational area. The tradition of designated bathing areas has been known since the interwar period. Back then near Wał Miedzeszyński, there were places like Bracia Kozłowskich Beach or the city beach Poniatówka. Both had wooden pavilions with changing rooms. In 1963, there were ten guarded beaches on both sides of the Vistula. Four of them charged admission.

The beach is located near the Aquatica pier. From Plaża Rusałka, you can catch the Wilga ferry. It takes passengers across the Vistula to the Jan Karski Boulevard free of charge.

Getting here is easy. You can take trams or buses to the Park Praski stop. If you are driving, there is a guarded paid parking lot on Wybrzeże Helskie. It is at the end of Ratuszowa Street.

Wisła Bliska is a cycle of themed cruises. There are also animation activities on the river. They aim to convince Varsovians that the Vistula flows very close to them. It is worth visiting regularly.

Plaża Rusałka is more than just a beach. It is a place where you can relax. You can enjoy the beauty of Warsaw. You can also connect with the city’s past and present. Imagine the laughter and conversations that have echoed here. Feel the sun on your skin. Listen to the gentle lapping of the Vistula. Plaża Rusałka offers a sensory experience.

In 2014, the popularity of Warsaw’s beaches led to the launch of a special night tram line. It ran across the Poniatowski Bridge. This shows how important these urban spaces have become for the city’s residents.

Warsaw’s Vistula River beaches have been recognized by National Geographic. They are among the most beautiful urban beaches in the world. In 2016, The Guardian listed them as one of the top ten urban beaches in Europe.

As you stand here, remember that you are part of a story. It is a story that spans decades. Plaża Rusałka is a testament to Warsaw’s resilience. It is also a celebration of its enduring spirit. Take a moment to appreciate this unique place. Let its beauty and history inspire you.
