Imagine students rushing through these doors. The Philosophikum building stands before us a hub of knowledge and activity. It is building number 103 on the University of Cologne campus. The Philosophikum is more than just classrooms and offices. It is a place where minds meet and ideas are born.
Inside the Philosophikum many departments reside. You will find the Department of History and the Institute of North American History here. The Institute of Antiquity is also located in the Philosophikum. This is the only institute in Germany that brings together Classical Philology including Greek and Latin, Byzantine Studies, Modern Greek Philology and Medieval Latin Philology.
Let us step inside. The ground floor hosts several useful services. There is a Campus-AOK and a branch of Stadtsparkasse K\u00f6ln. You can also find STA Travel here. The Philosophikum also provides support for students with families. There are Eltern-Kind-Zimmer or parent-child rooms. You can find one in room 2.208. A key can be obtained from the janitor.
Need to change a diaper? The Philosophikum has you covered. Diaper changing stations are available on multiple floors. These are on the first, second, and third floors. They are in rooms 1.012, 2.010 and 3.010. There is also one on the ground floor in rooms 0.310 and 0.308. These rooms include toilets for people with disabilities.
The Philosophikum supports a wide range of academic disciplines. The second floor is home to the Centrum f\u00fcr interdisziplin\u00e4re Frankreich- und Frankophoniestudien. You can find the Initiative for Bilingual studies and the Zentrum f\u00fcr Moderneforschung here too. The third floor houses the Fachbibliothek Fennistik and Skandinavistik. The Zentrum f\u00fcr Vergleichende Europ\u00e4ische Studien is also on the third floor.
The Philosophikum is open to students and faculty. Its regular opening hours are Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 9:30 PM. On Saturdays, it is open from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. During semester breaks, the building closes a bit earlier on weekdays at 9:00 PM.
