Ever wondered what a school built on donations and dreams looks like? Right here before us stands PHC Wing Kwong College. It’s a testament to community spirit and a beacon of education in Wong Tai Sin, Hong Kong. PHC Wing Kwong College, established in 1973, embodies the vision of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Their aim was simple. They wanted to offer quality education rooted in Christian values. The college’s history is intertwined with the church’s commitment to the community. In 1964, the Pentecostal Holiness Church began the quest for land. They envisioned a school on Lung Cheung Road. Joseph E. Campbell, a dedicated member, spearheaded fundraising efforts in the US. Construction began in 1969, and PHC Wing Kwong College officially opened its doors on September 2, 1973. The college started with 930 students, from Form 1 to Form 3. It expanded over the years. It added a Form 7 pre-university program and introduced four houses. The school underwent significant renovations in the early 2000s and again from 2003 to 2005. These renovations included demolishing the old Joe E. Campbell Hall and building a new seven-story complex. This new building housed a grand hall, library, IT center, and various other facilities. The government contributed significantly, providing HK$100 million for the project. The Pentecostal Holiness Church also donated HK$25 million, demonstrating their continued dedication to PHC Wing Kwong College. Today, PHC Wing Kwong College boasts a diverse curriculum. It offers subjects like Travel and Hospitality, Health Management and Social Care, Design and Applied Technology, and Chinese Literature. The school also has a vibrant extracurricular program. It offers 37 different clubs. These cater to a range of interests. From academics and arts to sports and service, PHC Wing Kwong College encourages holistic development. PHC Wing Kwong College isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to faith, perseverance, and a community’s commitment to education. It has nurtured many successful individuals. This includes prominent alumni like actor Ron Ng and TVB actress Priscilla Wong. Their success reflects the school’s motto, “Development of Soul Mind Body”. As we stand here, we can almost hear the echoes of students past and present. PHC Wing Kwong College continues to inspire and educate. It prepares the next generation for a bright future.
