How did a small lagoon become such a treasured spot? Welcome to Pearl Beach Lagoon a hidden gem on the Central Coast of New South Wales. His journal entry describes friendly but numerous natives. Lieutenant William Bradley’s journal echoes this noting a cove where the surf broke violently.
Pearl Beach Lagoon is a dynamic ecosystem. It can vary from freshwater to brackish to saltwater. It has even been completely dry at times. This makes it unique with no comparable environments nearby. The lagoon sits south of Umina Beach separated by a ridge holding Mount Ettalong. Brisbane Water National Park borders it to the west and south. Broken Bay lies to the east. The beach itself is a fascinating example of a logarithmic spiral.
