Did you know that Parque Ecológico Guapituba was once a private estate? Imagine Alfredo Klinkert a German landowner who owned this vast area. His property included not just this land but also houses buildings farms and even mills. This is Parque Ecológico Guapituba a beautiful park in Mauá São Paulo. The park wasn’t always a public space. It was officially opened in 1996. It was initially managed openly and transparently. Some of the former owner’s employees and their families even lived here. The park boasted various attractions. But changes in city management in 1998 led to six years of neglect. Parque Ecológico Guapituba fell into disrepair becoming a haven for drug users and troubled couples. Then in 2003 Petrobras stepped in. A major renovation expanded the park’s leisure areas improved security and upgraded infrastructure. The families who lived here were relocated. Parque Ecológico Guapituba was reborn.

Today Parque Ecológico Guapituba is a tranquil oasis. Its 536760 square meters are filled with gardens walking paths and monitored trails. There are lagoons open-air theaters a playground and even a museum. The trees many planted in the 1930s tower up to 20 meters high. They’re mainly pine eucalyptus and araucaria trees. The park features different gardens like the Jardim da Lagoa and Jardim de Pedra. There are several walking paths including the traditional path and the Avenida de Coqueiros. The park offers monitored walks through the Atlantic Forest and Araucaria forest. These are carefully guided to preserve the environment and ensure safety. Visitors can enjoy the main lagoon and the carp lagoon. You’ll even find a natural spring. The open-air theaters provide unique performance spaces.
