Originally, it was called Parque Duque de Caxias. In 2002, it was renamed to honor Celso Daniel. He was the former mayor of Santo André. He was sadly assassinated. He had a great appreciation for this green area.

The park’s history dates back to May 12, 1974. The land was expropriated from General Electric. They had planned a recreation area for employees. Before that, Luiz Monteiro de Carvalho owned it. He bought it from Abílio Soares.

A centennial fig tree stands here. It is a cultural landmark since 1992. In 2000, the park expanded by 3,500 square meters. A new entrance was added on Avenida Industrial. This became the main entrance.

After Celso Daniel’s death, João Avamileno took office. He renamed Parque Duque de Caxias to Parque Celso Daniel.

Parque Celso Daniel has many amenities. There are 122 benches and 33 rest areas. Enjoy the jogging track and playgrounds. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the courts. In 2005, the park saw 4,200 daily visitors. Weekends drew about 16,000 people.

It was once open 24 hours a day. Now, it opens from 6 AM to 10 PM. The park hosts events like the Flower Festival. The 46th edition was in 2019. There is also the Strawberry and Chocolate Festival.

Avenida Dom Pedro II leads to the park. Its address is 940 Jardim Santo André. You will find that Parque Celso Daniel is accessible. It has ramps and adapted restrooms.

The park provides sports facilities. There is a Cooper track and an outdoor gym. You can play on the sand soccer fields. There are also multi sport courts. Children can enjoy playgrounds and a lake. Relax under the trees. They offer shade for a peaceful rest.
