Didn’t Joan of Arc inspire unwavering courage? Here stands the Paróquia Santa Joana D’Arc. It is a testament to faith and community in São Paulo’s Jardim França. This Catholic temple is more than just a building. It represents devotion.

The Paróquia Santa Joana D’Arc belongs to the Santana sector. This is within the Archdiocese of São Paulo. It also oversees the Capela Cristo Rei in Água Fria.

Let’s step back in time. The church’s story began in 1950. Construction finished in 1966. The completed Paróquia Santa Joana D’Arc was inaugurated in that same year. Its creation was driven by the growing population. The community needed a dedicated space. It would replace the Capela de São Sebastião do Barro Branco. This older chapel was at the corner of Nova Cantareira and Água Fria avenues.

Jacques Funke played a vital role. He was a French businessman. Funke owned the Companhia Territorial Franco-Paulista de Água Fria. This construction company developed the Água Fria and Jardim França neighborhoods. Funke donated the land for the church.

Initially mass was held in a temporary space. Over time a proper church was built. This achievement resulted from community effort. The Archdiocese of São Paulo also helped.

Today the Paróquia Santa Joana D’Arc thrives. It serves as a religious and social hub. The church offers regular services. It also organizes social programs and catechism activities. Its simple architecture is a landmark in the neighborhood.

The parish was officially founded on February 11 1958. This happened by decree of Dom Carlos Carmelo de Vasconcelos Mota.

If you’re interested in attending a service the schedule is varied. At the main church services are held on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM. Fridays have a service at 8 AM except for the first Friday of the month. On these days mass is at 3 PM. Saturdays have a service at 4:30 PM. Sundays offer services at 10:30 AM and 7 PM. The Capela Cristo Rei holds services on the first Friday of each month at 9 AM. Sunday services are at 8 AM.

Need to speak with a priest? Confessions are heard Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday from 5 PM to 6 PM. The parish office is open Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM. Weekdays it’s open from 9 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM.

The Paróquia Santa Joana D’Arc stands as a beacon of faith. It is a testament to community spirit. The church continues to serve and inspire. Its doors are always open.
