This park on Gocław in Praga-Południe lies between Abrahama and Nowaka-Jeziorańskiego streets. Its story began with a design competition in 2008. The winning team included Piotr Hardecki, Krzysztof Łaniewski-Wołłk, Łukasz Stępniak and Kinga Zinowiec-Cieplik. Construction started in December 2009. The community had its say in 2007 during public consultations.
The park’s creation cost around 10 million złoty. Funds came from the Municipal Environmental Protection Fund and Praga Południe district budget. Park Nad Balatonem officially opened on November 7, 2010.
Today, Park Nad Balatonem offers many attractions. Children enjoy the playgrounds. A cafe provides refreshments. An outdoor stage hosts events. Terraces overlook the water. Interestingly, Park Nad Balatonem has cinematic history. Scenes from the film “Polish-Russian War” were shot here in 2008. The setting was a town festival by the Balaton lake.
