“How did this parish come to be?” you might ask. The story of Parafia Świętej Matki Teresy z Kalkuty w Kobyłce-Turowie began with a vision. It started with a need for a new spiritual center in Kobyłka-Turów.
Parafia Świętej Matki Teresy z Kalkuty w Kobyłce-Turowie was officially established on October 1 2004. Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk created it by separating it from the parish of the Holy Trinity in Kobyłka. The idea originated with Father Kazimierz Konowrocki. He was a former pastor of the Holy Trinity Parish.
Father Władysław Walczewski bought land for the future church. Sadly his illness prevented him from seeing it built. Father Jan Andrzejewski took up the project in 2003. He aimed to create a new pastoral center in Kobyłka-Turów. The land was fenced. A large metal cross was placed on the site.
On June 24 2003 Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk celebrated the first Mass. He blessed the ground and the cross. During the ceremony it was announced that Father Jacek Dębski would assist with building a chapel and living quarters.
From August 13 to November 13 2003 a basic chapel building was erected. From 2004 to 2006 the chapel and residence were completed. In September 2004 Father Jacek Dębski moved in. He was appointed as the parish priest.
In late 2006 a design for the church was approved by Archbishop Sławoj Leszek Głódź. Construction began on August 13 2008. By the end of 2013 the roof was completed and covered with metal sheets.
Today Parafia Świętej Matki Teresy z Kalkuty w Kobyłce-Turowie continues to serve its community. Masses are held on Sundays and holidays at 9:00 11:00 and 17:00. Weekday services are at 6:45 and 17:00. Father Paweł Sołowiej has been the parish priest since July 1 2020.
