Once a simple chapel stood here. Today stands the Parafia Świętej Faustyny w Warszawie-Bródnie. This church has a rich history. It started with a vision and faced many challenges.
The story of Parafia Świętej Faustyny begins in 1993. The Kuria Warszawsko-Praska appointed Father Ryszard Ladziński. He was tasked with organizing a new pastoral center. On June 23, 1994, Bishop Stanisław Kędziora celebrated the first Mass with Father Ladziński. They blessed the cross and the land for construction.
A chapel was built from a repurposed OHP barrack. Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk consecrated it on October 5, 1994. This date was significant. It was the day of the memorial for the then-blessed Sister Faustyna. In 1995, construction began on the parish house.
In 1998, the Parafia Świętej Faustyny received permission to build a church. The temple was quickly erected. It followed the designs of engineers Andrzej Gniazdowski and Józef Marek. Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk laid the cornerstone. He consecrated the walls on May 22, 1999.
In April 2000, Sister Faustyna was canonized. The parish then changed its name. It became Parafia Świętej Faustyny. Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk consecrated the church on December 25, 2003. Archbishop Henryk Hoser consecrated it again on October 6, 2013.
However, the Parafia Świętej Faustyny faced difficult times. In recent years, the parish priest was suspended. This was due to allegations of tax fraud. He was also accused of misappropriating donations. The case is still under investigation.
Despite these challenges, Parafia Świętej Faustyny continues to serve its community. It offers daily and Sunday masses. The church is a place of worship. It is a symbol of faith for many. The parish has a rich history. It shows resilience and devotion. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its parishioners. The Parafia Świętej Faustyny remains a vital part of Warsaw’s Bródno district.
