Parafia Świętego Karola Boromeusza in Warsaw-Las has a relatively short history. Yet its impact on the community is undeniable. The parish was established in 2006. Abp Sławoj Leszek Głódź was instrumental in its creation. He separated it from the northern part of the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Warsaw-Zerzeń.
Ks. inf. Stanisław Rawski was the first organizer. He oversaw the construction of the chapel. He also supervised the rectory and church foundations. Adam Wagner designed the entire sacred complex.
The first Mass was celebrated in the temporary chapel on September 24 2006. Construction of the church began immediately after the chapel was completed. The building was finished in October 2009. The Blessed Sacrament was then moved to the new church. The first Mass was celebrated there soon after.
The completion of this large project was possible due to the generosity of the faithful. Their commitment to parish life was crucial. Ks. Krzysztof Ostojski organized 26 collections for the church’s construction. He initially went from house to house. Later parishioners brought offerings themselves.
The chapel was transformed into an auditorium. It was named after John Paul II. This aula serves many functions. It can be a theater a cinema or a concert hall. It is also used for discos and as a refectory.
Abp Henryk Hoser SAC consecrated the church on November 6 2011. This was a momentous occasion for Parafia Świętego Karola Boromeusza.
The parish serves residents of several streets in Wawer. These include Kadetów and Trakt Lubelski. The church offers regular services. On Sundays and holidays Mass is held at 8 AM 10 AM 12 PM and 6 PM. Weekday Masses are at 8 AM and 6 PM.
Currently the parish priest is Ks. Marek Gradziński. He has been in this role since August 24 2022. The vicar is Ks. Przemysław Dagis who joined on August 26 2024.
