Built in 2002 the Parafia Świętego Benedykta w Warszawie stands proudly. It wasn’t always so. This beautiful church is a testament to faith and community resilience.
The story of the Parafia Świętego Benedykta w Warszawie begins long before its official founding. In 1997 Sunday masses were held in a humble building. It served as a temporary home for a growing community. This was the beginning of a dream a dream of a permanent church. The dream was fueled by the residents of Wawer and Sadul. Their hospitality and initiative were crucial.
Bishop Kazimierz Romaniuk played a pivotal role. He blessed the land for the new church in 1998. Sadly shortly after vandals damaged the newly consecrated cross. But this setback did not deter the community. A Way of the Cross procession through the streets became an act of penance and hope. It’s a tradition continued yearly.
The construction of the Parafia Świętego Benedykta w Warszawie began in 1999. Architects Roman Dziedziejko Mariusz Jasiński Mikołaj Kadłubowski Michał Leszczyński and Krzysztof Mycielski collaborated on its design. A cornerstone blessed by Pope John Paul II was laid in 2001. Finally in 2002 Bishop Romaniuk officially established the parish. The Parafia Świętego Benedykta w Warszawie was complete.
