Have you ever felt the weight of history? Here before you stands the Parafia Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny in Zaborów a testament to faith resilience and the passage of time. This church nestled on the edge of Kampinos Forest whispers tales of centuries. It’s a place where the echoes of prayers mingle with the rustling leaves.

The Parafia Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny boasts a history as rich as the forest surrounding it. Its origins trace back to the 14th or 15th century. A wooden church stood here then. Imagine the simple beauty the scent of pine the community gathered within those humble walls. A priest named Jan served as the pleban in 1465. His name is a tiny star in the vast constellation of Zaborów’s past.

The wooden structure was tragically lost to fire in 1700. Yet from the ashes rose another wooden church thanks to the efforts of Father Glinka. This too was eventually replaced. This time a lasting testament was constructed. In 1791 Karolina and Placyd Izbińscy funded the current brick structure. Architect Hilary Szpilowski designed the building in the fashionable neoclassical style. The church remains a stunning example of this architectural era.

Notice the single nave the absence of a distinct presbytery. The façade is elegantly divided by pilasters topped with a powerful cornice. A single tower crowned with a helmet-like dome rises above. The rear of the church also features a striking facade. Ionic columns support a triangular tympanum. The side walls are adorned with pairs of Ionic pilasters and tall windows. The interior is rectangular with sacred corners. A sacristy and a staircase leading to the choir loft are located near the presbytery.

The main altar and two side altars are original 17th-century pieces. The main altar houses a captivating image of the Mother of God with the Child. The Virgin Mary’s robe is made of silver sheet metal. In the left side altar is the crowned image of St. Anne (1722). To the right the images of St. Joseph and St. Anthony grace the altar. Above the entrance is the choir loft enclosed by a baluster railing. New organs were installed in 2011. An 19th-century pulpit stands alongside numerous epitaphs.

The Parafia Nawiedzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny in Zaborów is more than just a building. It’s a living record of faith community and history. Its enduring presence in the heart of Zaborów speaks volumes about its power to connect generations. Take a moment to reflect on the stories it holds. Let its quiet grandeur speak to your soul.
