Whose heart is this parish dedicated to? Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa in Warsaw’s Ursus district. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa was established on August 1 1998. Cardinal Józef Glemp erected it. The parish was formed from parts of other parishes. These included Saint Józef in Ursus. Also Saint Michał Archanioł in Piastów and Saint Apostołów Piotra i Pawła in Pęcice. The decree came into effect on December 25 1998.
Before its establishment the land was acquired by Kazimierz Szklarczyk. He was the parish priest of the mother parish. A temporary chapel was planned.
On December 10 1997 a cross was erected on the church grounds. The construction of the church began. On December 25 1998 Cardinal Józef Glemp consecrated the newly built church. This happened during the Christmas Eve mass. On the same day the Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa parish was established.
The church is a brick structure. It is joined to a single-story presbytery building. It features three naves and a two-level roof. A ground-floor annex runs along the east side of the church and presbytery. This annex houses the sacristy and serves as a connector. There is a small vestibule at the entrance. A small flèche sits above the entrance of Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa.
Inside Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa the interior is simple. Rectangular skylights above the side aisles brighten the space. A large crucifix hangs on the wall above the entrance. In the altar wall is a niche. It contains an image of Jesus holding a burning heart. Below the image is a tabernacle in a semicircular niche. On either side are projecting niches with floral motifs.
At the end of the left nave is the altar of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Next to it stands a sculpture of John Paul II. The altar on the right side contains an image of Divine Mercy.
Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa serves around 5000 parishioners.
Several priests have served as parish priests. These include Ryszard Laskowski and Grzegorz Mencel. Janusz Sajnóg and Robert Wyszomirski also served. Currently Robert Wyszomirski is the priest.
Several services are held at Parafia Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited daily at 3:00 PM. The Novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary takes place every Wednesday at 6:00 PM. This is before mass. The Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus follows mass. This happens every first Friday of the month. Roraty masses are at 7:00 AM during Advent. They occur from Monday to Saturday. The Stations of the Cross are at 5:30 PM. This is every Friday of Lent. Bitter Lamentations are at 5:00 PM. This is every Sunday of Lent. May devotions are after evening mass from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays they are at 5:30 PM. June devotions follow the same schedule.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place at 5:30 PM. This is on the first Sunday of each month.
