Did Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński ever imagine that a soldier of the Polish Army, residing in Mexico, would inspire the creation of Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Meksyku w Laskach? Here we stand, before this unique church, a testament to a friendship forged across continents. Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Meksyku, established in 1981, stands as a symbol of the bond between Poland and Mexico. It’s a relatively young parish, but its roots lie in a fascinating historical exchange. After World War II, many Poles found refuge in Mexico. These expatriates maintained strong ties to their homeland. In 1959, their efforts led to the declaration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Queen of Mexico, as the patron saint of Poland. In return, a church dedicated to Our Lady of Częstochowa was built in Mexico. The creation of Parafia Matki Bożej Królowej Meksyku in Laski was a reciprocal gesture, a Polish tribute to Mexico’s patron. Jerzy Skoryna, a soldier of the Polish Army’s 2nd Corps who settled in Mexico after the war, championed the idea. Cardinal Wyszyński, who held a special fondness for Laski, supported the project.
