Hidden amidst the Warsaw neighborhood of Miedzeszyn lies Parafia Matki Bożej Dobrej Rady. This unassuming church holds a vibrant history, deeply intertwined with the community’s spirit. Parafia Matki Bożej Dobrej Rady was established on March 15, 1988. But its story begins much earlier, in June 1982, with the arrival of Father Tadeusz Łakomiec. He spearheaded the construction of a modest wooden chapel. The first mass was held there on January 30, 1983. The chapel was consecrated shortly after, on February 20, by Bishop Jerzy Modzelewski. The early years of the parish were marked by the parishioners’ enthusiasm and dedication. They actively supported Father Łakomiec as he worked tirelessly, not only in pastoral care but also in the construction of a catechetical house and, eventually, the present-day church. Parafia Matki Bożej Dobrej Rady became a hub of spiritual growth and community building. A significant turning point in the parish’s history came in 1987. The City of Warsaw granted permission for the construction of a new church building. The first mass in the new church, a “Pasterka” mass, was celebrated in 1999. Regular services began in the spring of 2000, marking a new chapter in the parish’s life. The original wooden chapel, having served its purpose for 18 years, was then dismantled. Its materials were used in the continuing construction of the larger church. From 1991 to 1996, Parafia Matki Bożej Dobrej Rady housed Katolickie Radio Warszawa. This was Poland’s first Catholic radio station. It was established through the initiative of Father Łakomiec and the collaboration of several parishioners. The radio station even hosted an international conference, “Mass Media in Pastoral Care in Central European Countries”, in 1992. Father Łakomiec, after 24 years of dedicated service, was transferred to Wiązowna in 2006. Father Witold Gajda became the new pastor. He focused on furnishing the interior of the church, completing the roof, and plastering the interior walls. The church boasts a volume of 21,000 cubic meters. The presbytery was renovated in white Macedonian marble. Underfloor heating was installed and the floor was covered with granite, featuring a decorative stripe down the center of the church. In 2012, the parish house underwent thermo-modernization, giving it a fresh new look. Today, Parafia Matki Bożej Dobrej Rady stands as a testament to the faith and perseverance of the Miedzeszyn community.
