Did you know Pallotti High School wasn’t always Pallotti High School? Its story begins long before its current name. Nestled in Laurel Maryland Pallotti stands as a testament to over a century of education and faith. Originally established in 1921 as St Mildred’s Academy it was founded by the Pallottine Sisters. They transformed a colonial mansion called the Tiffany Estate into a school for girls. This mansion once belonged to the Laurel Mills manager. A circular driveway still hints at the estate’s former grandeur.

The Sisters of Mercy initially staffed the school. However they later withdrew. The Sisters of St Joseph from Pennsylvania took over for a time. In 1934 the Pallottine Sisters permanently assumed control. They brought a fresh innovative approach to teaching. They expanded the school significantly. The original mansion proved too small and was demolished in 1957. A new building was constructed. That’s when the name changed to Pallotti High School. It honored the founder of the Pallottine order.

Pallotti’s growth continued. A boarding school was converted into a daycare center. In 1984 the school’s official name became St Vincent Pallotti High School. A new convent was built to allow for further expansion of the school and daycare. More additions including a gymnasium a chapel and a library followed in 2001. This expansion reflects Pallotti’s enduring commitment to serving its community.

Today Pallotti High School remains a thriving institution. It attracts students from various counties in Maryland. It also welcomes students from the District of Columbia. Pallotti offers a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. Its commitment to its students remains strong. It blends academic excellence with Catholic values. The school maintains its dedication to the Pallottine mission. It encourages students to use their talents to serve others. It’s a place where young people not only receive education but also discover their potential. The spirit of its founders continues to inspire its students staff and community.
