Imagine stepping into a time machine. You are now standing before the Palacete Rosa a breathtaking mansion in Sao Paulo’s Ipiranga district. This isn’t just any house. It’s a living testament to history culture and architectural brilliance.

The Palacete Rosa was built in 1927 for David and Munira Jafet a prominent family. Their home reflected their unique tastes blending Moorish influences with modern amenities. They lived there for decades raising their children. The Jafets chose Ipiranga a fashionable area not far from their factories. About 20 similar mansions stood in this area but only six remain today. This is one of the few survivors.

Notice the exterior. The Palacete Rosa boasts a distinctive Moorish style. Minarets columns intricate carvings and arched doorways create a captivating facade. But the beauty extends beyond its exterior. Step inside and you’ll be transported.

The interior of the Palacete Rosa is equally stunning. The grand hall replicates the opulent interiors of Middle Eastern mosques. Afrescos adorn the walls intricate metalwork and delicate lace-like patterns cover surfaces. A stained-glass skylight bathes the space in colorful light. The floor gleams with mother-of-pearl inlaid into the granilite. A majestic white marble staircase leads to the upper floor. A large painting on the upper floor depicts a Middle Eastern city possibly Baghdad.

In 1963 the Jafets sold the Palacete Rosa. It became the Santa Olga Institute a girls’ boarding school. Daughters of Russian immigrants who fled World War II found refuge within its walls. Traces of the school’s presence remain. The basement was once a dormitory for the Ursuline nuns.

Fast forward to the early 2000s. Luiz Antonio Gasparetto a renowned psychologist and medium purchased the Palacete Rosa. He meticulously restored it respecting its historical significance while adding modern conveniences like gas heating and updated plumbing. The original elevator installed by the Jafets in the 1920s was also restored. Gasparetto lived there until his death in 2018.

Today the Palacete Rosa stands as a symbol of Sao Paulo’s rich past. It’s a reminder of the city’s diverse influences and architectural prowess. This magnificent mansion is a living piece of history one that deserves to be cherished and preserved for generations to come. It’s truly a remarkable place. And you are experiencing it now.
