Windswept and scenic, Pak Kok Tsui awaits us at the end of a coastal path. Shall we discover its charm? Pak Kok Tsui is located on the northern part of Lamma Island. It is a destination that offers stunning sea views and a glimpse of Hong Kong Island’s coastline.
To get here, many visitors take a ferry to Pak Kok Pier. The pier itself has an interesting story. The old pier was quite basic. Ferries could only berth head-on. This made embarking and disembarking difficult, especially when the sea was rough. Recognizing these challenges, the government launched the Pier Improvement Programme. The reconstructed Pak Kok Pier was commissioned in November 2022. It now allows ferries to berth side-on. Wave reduction panels were added. These panels enhance the stability of berthing vessels. This makes it safer and more convenient for passengers. The new pier also boasts many additional facilities. There is a roof cover, Wi-Fi, and charging facilities. You will also find water dispensers here. The roof is made of tempered glass and wooden trellis.
From the pier, an adventure awaits. The Lamma Island Family Trail beckons. As you follow the trail from Pak Kok Pier, you will pass the Sam Shan Kwok Wong Temple. “Sam Shan” refers to three mountains in Raoping County. This temple adds a touch of cultural richness to the journey.
Continuing along the coastal path from Sam Shan Kwok Wong Temple, you will soon reach Luk Chau Wan. After a 15-minute walk, Pak Kok Tsui reveals itself. The view from Pak Kok Tsui is incredible. You can see the sea. You can also see the coastline of Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island.
If you continue east from Pak Kok Tsui, you will find Lighthouse No. 132. This marks the end of the trail. Pak Kok Tsui is more than just a scenic spot. It is a place where you can experience Lamma Island’s natural beauty. It is a place where you can relax and enjoy the stunning views. It is a destination that showcases Hong Kong’s commitment to improving infrastructure for both residents and tourists. Take a moment to breathe in the fresh sea air here at Pak Kok Tsui.
