Our Lady of the Nativity sits proudly in Lawson a town named after one of the first Europeans to cross the Blue Mountains. The church’s history is interwoven with the area’s. It is a small parish but one of the most beautifully situated in the Diocese of Parramatta. Its stunning views overlook the valleys. The original church building is now the school hall for Our Lady of the Nativity Primary School.
The church’s small size belies its significance. It’s a place of strong community. Twice-monthly morning teas after Mass draw people together. A recent gathering saw around 70 people. The original church’s construction was a huge event for the area. Hundreds gathered for the blessing of the foundation stone and later its consecration.
