Our Lady of Grace Catholic School first opened in 1974 in temporary classrooms. The current building was built in 1982. It was officially opened and blessed on May 5, 1983. The school is named after the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is seen as Our Lady of Grace.
Our Lady of Grace sees a strong connection between home school and church. This partnership helps students succeed. It inspires them to grow academically, creatively, physically, socially, and spiritually.
The school focuses on meeting the diverse needs of its students. Parents choose Our Lady of Grace. They expect their children to be educated fully. This education follows Catholic beliefs and traditions. The school provides a safe and welcoming place. It fosters growth in all areas: spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and intellectual.
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School expects students to arrive on time. They should be ready for the day. Students are to act well in the classroom, on the playground and on the bus. They are expected to speak kindly. They must respect others and school property. Being a positive role model is important. Students are to show tolerance. They should complete tasks diligently. They also must reflect well on their families, school, and parish.
The school offers special education. It is for students who need extra help. There is also support for those who need enrichment. Core French is taught from grades 1 to 8.
Our Lady of Grace encourages computer skills. It provides software to support learning. There are computers in classrooms. There is also a network in the library.
Our Lady of Grace School provides an Extended French program. Parents can choose this program after Grade 4. It continues from Grade 5 to Grade 8. Students spend half the day in English and half in French.
The school has instrumental and vocal music programs. They foster a love for music and the arts. Students use their skills in choir, musicals, band concerts, and church events.
Extracurricular activities are available. Students can join sports and clubs. These enhance their development. Options include soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country and track. They also offer flag football, drama, choir, and academics.
Originally, Our Lady of Grace served families in Rosewood and Brimley Forest. It was part of St. Bartholomew’s Parish. As the area grew, new schools were built. Prince of Peace Parish was established in 1983.
Today, Our Lady of Grace serves the Brimley Forest and Richmond Park areas. Transportation is provided for students east of McCowan Road.
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School is more than just a school. It is a community. It is a place of learning, faith, and growth. It prepares students for the future while honoring its past. Its story is still being written. Each student adds a new chapter.
