Wow Look at this impressive building This is Otomate Square in Tokyo. It’s on the sixth floor of the Otomate Building a space dedicated to the world of otome games.
Otomate Square itself is an event space. It’s designed for meet-and-greets Q&A sessions and other fan events. Think of it as a central hub for the passionate community surrounding these romance-themed video games. Unfortunately it was under construction during my friend’s visit.
The building itself is more than just Otomate Square. The first floor boasts a crepe paradise a sweet treat haven. There are collaborations with popular otome game series like Sengoku Night Blood and Ikemen. Gashopon machines offering collectible figures from CollarxMalice and Code:Realize are also there.
The second floor houses The CHARA Shop brimming with character goods. Unfortunately it was closed during my friend’s visit. The third floor is a haven for fans of 2.5D stage plays. They sell merchandise from productions like Haikyuu Naruto and Onmyoji. No photography is allowed.
The fourth floor is a flexible space called mixx garden used for collaborative cafes. The fifth floor is dedicated to the Otomate Garden Cafe featuring events and menus based on Otomate’s game titles. This also requires tickets.
While the Otomate Building might not always seem busy the building certainly has potential. If you are an otome game fan you might just find a reason to explore this place. It is a very specific niche but Otomate Square is a unique part of Tokyo’s pop culture scene.
