Have you ever felt the curious gaze of a giant bird? Welcome to the Ostrich Kingdom Ishioka Farm. Here in Ibaraki Prefecture just 90 minutes from Tokyo’s bustle you’ll find the largest ostrich farm in all of Japan. Hundreds of these flightless wonders greet you with squawks and stares.

The Ostrich Kingdom isn’t just a farm it’s an experience. This isn’t your average petting zoo. Here you can hand-feed these majestic creatures. But be warned their pecks are powerful. They can draw blood. So approach with caution and respect.

These are the world’s largest living birds. They also lay the largest eggs of any living land animal. If you visit during the right season you might even witness the wonder of an ostrich laying its enormous egg. The sheer size of these eggs is truly impressive. You won’t believe how big they are.

But the Ostrich Kingdom is more than ostriches. There are over 80 other animals here. Think alpacas capybaras goats. Children can even ride ponies. There’s something for everyone at this incredible farm.

There are smaller animals too. You can pet guinea pigs rabbits chicks and turtles. There’s even a small bird room. But be warned some birds are chained. That can be sad for some visitors.

You can buy food for many of the animals. Buckets of raw cabbage and carrots are perfect for the alpacas and capybaras. They’re surprisingly fun to feed. You’ll get a kick out of seeing them.

After your animal encounters head to the souvenir shop. You can try delicious ostrich meat dishes. Skewers stew and even curry are on the menu. Ostrich meat tastes more like beef than chicken. It is surprisingly tender and tasty. They also have ice cream made from ostrich eggs. It is creamier than normal ice cream.

So come explore the Ostrich Kingdom. It’s a unique and unforgettable experience. You’ll leave with amazing memories and maybe even some ostrich-themed souvenirs. Remember to purchase your feed before you go. And don’t forget to check the farm’s opening hours.
