Archaeological digs reveal Ossendorf as a site of continuous habitation since the New Stone Age, over 5,000 years ago. The first written record of Ossendorf appears in 980 AD. Archbishop Warinus gifted a manor here to the convent of St. Ursula in Cologne. This manor, later known as “Frohnhof,” became a symbol of Ossendorf’s evolving identity. While the Industrial Revolution transformed much of Germany, Ossendorf clung to its agricultural roots well into the 20th century. In 1798, only 160 souls called Ossendorf home. Even by 1925, the population remained a modest 961. But change was on the horizon. The arrival of the Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugenossenschaft Köln-Ehrenfeld in 1930 marked a turning point. The district began to grow, its population swelling as new homes rose. Today, Ossendorf stands as a blend of old and new.
