Interestingly, the Oskar Statue stands as a testament to artistic expression. This Oskar Statue, created by Jaroslav Róna, has been captivating viewers since 1991.

Prague is a city known for its beautiful historic buildings and landmarks. It is also home to various sculptures of different artistic styles. Many of these statues were used as navigation tools by the illiterate. Some statues are quite unique and tell a story about the city’s culture and history. The Oskar Statue is one of them.

David Černý is a Czech sculptor known for his provocative sculptures around Prague. But the Oskar Statue is not one of them. The Oskar Statue is work of Jaroslav Róna.

The Statue of Franz Kafka is also located in Prague. It is a surrealistic sculpture that depicts a mini Kafka riding on the shoulders of a giant empty suit. The statue was commissioned by Prague’s Franz Kafka Society in 2003. The image was inspired by the writer’s short story ‘Description of a Struggle’. The monument stands in the historic Jewish Quarter in Prague, where Kafka spent most of his life.

Another interesting statue in Prague is the ‘Man Hanging Out’. It depicts the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud hanging by one hand on the top of a building. He seems to be pondering whether to hold on or to let go. Freud was born in Freiberg, which is now part of the Czech Republic. Artist David Černý chose to depict the psychoanalyst in his constant struggle with his trepidation.

The Czech capital is also home to the Memorial to the Victims of Communism. It stands as a very impactful tribute to those who were affected by Communism during the period of 1948-1989. The memorial is located on Újezd Street.

Another statue is the ‘Czech Musicians’. In Sénovážné Square, you’ll find four bronze figures dancing around a fountain. These are artist Anna Chromý’s Czech Musicians. All are blindfolded, and each plays a different instrument. They represent four major rivers of the world: the Ganges, the Amazon, the Danube and the Mississippi.

So the Oskar Statue is one of the many artistic treasures that Prague has to offer. It enriches the cultural landscape of this beautiful city. The Oskar Statue by Jaroslav Róna is a must-see for art lovers and tourists alike.
