Imagine sleeping under a canopy of stars. You hear the Disa River flowing nearby. An owl hoots softly in the distance. Welcome to Orange Kloof Tented Camp in Hout Bay. It is a special piece of paradise.
Orange Kloof Tented Camp is nestled among an ancient Afromontane forest. The camp lies within Table Mountain National Park. It is only 20 minutes from Cape Town city center. This camp offers a perfect getaway for hikers. It is also ideal for nature lovers and families.
The Orange Kloof theme is forest. The raised viewing tower offers views of the surrounding peaks. Relax around the fire in front of the boma. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget.
There are 4 x 2 sleeper tents and 1 x 4 sleeper tent. These tents are permanent structures. They have canvas interiors covered by a weatherproof roof. The tents are luxurious. They have thick mattresses in two or four-bed structures. These structures are built from alien vegetation. This vegetation was harvested from within the park.
Orange Kloof is designed on a “touch the Earth lightly” philosophy. It has fully environmentally-friendly facilities. Careful planning ensures minimum environmental impact. Invasive alien timber was used for construction. The innovative layout protects the environment.
Each tent includes single beds. They have a mattress, pillow, bedding, and towel. There are communal ablutions for all guests. A communal boma and braai area is available. Guests can use the communal fully equipped kitchen.
Safe and secure parking is available at the camp. The large open outdoor braai area and boma are popular. The outside braai facility may be used if weather permits. The large fully equipped kitchen is available for campers. Neat clean outdoor showers and toilets are provided.
Mountain bikers take note. No mountain biking is allowed in Orange Kloof. This is a restricted area. It protects the Afromontane Forest. Hiking is permitted. But you must be accompanied by an accredited TMNP guide. Hike from Orange Kloof up Disa Gorge toward Table Mountain.
Each camp accommodates a maximum of 12 people. Additional guests cannot be accommodated. All camps are easily accessible by car. Dedicated parking areas are available.
Orange Kloof Tented Camp is part of the Hoerikwaggo Tented Camps.
The overnight trails offer unique experiences. Hike from Silvermine to Orange Kloof. This trail is 15.5 km. Another option is Orange Kloof to Table Mountain. That hike is 9.5 km.

Disa Gorge has enchanting forest canopies. Ferns and mossy pathways line the trail. The trail meanders up the Back Table. It follows a rocky stream. It culminates on top of Table Mountain at Woodhead Dam.
Return to camp and gather around the stone fire-pit. A change of warm clothes is essential in winter. Hot showers are available. Brave the cold breeze and leave your shower door open. Enjoy a spectacular mountain view.
The large outdoor deck is a great hangout spot. The long table stretches across the kitchen. Outside is an open braai fire. Admire the stars above. Inside, a wood-burning fireplace keeps the dining cabin cosy.
Each tent has its own deck. Enjoy forest or mountain views. Boardwalks link the tents. They also connect to the communal shower and toilet cabins. Warm duvets, towels, and solar lights are provided. This forest nook is food for the soul. Down a winding dirt road you’ll find mountains and meadows and no phone signal.
