Oji Sakuara Elementary School & Oji Junior High School is not just two schools. It is a complex. These schools were adjacent before reconstruction. Now they are connected.
The concept is “a connected school.” The goal was to build the school with connections in mind. These connections are between the elementary school and the junior high school. They also connect the community and the green environment to the schools.
The elementary and junior high schools form an “L” shape. A central linking area joins them. This area holds two gymnasia and a media center. It also includes the Oji Hall and a lunch room. Special classrooms are located here too. This layout enables linked learning within a compact space.
The Oji Highway is the main approach route. It runs through the center of the first floor. Elementary and junior high students share this route to the school entrance.
Workshops were held with the community schools and PTA. These workshops occurred during the basic design and design for execution stages. Many opinions were exchanged. These opinions covered everything from the school building layout to plans for each room.
