Did you know that Northside Bible Church in Tampa has a fascinating history? Right here before you stands a testament to faith and community. It all started informally about 29 years ago with simple Bible studies. The church wasn’t always located here on Hayes Road in Lutz. For five years it welcomed five ministers before Reverend Dan Coggins became the senior pastor. He’s been a vital part of this church for an incredible 24 years. He even led Bible studies in his own neighborhood before joining Northside Bible Church.
Northside Bible Church is more than just a building. It’s a place where people gather every Sunday. Around 90 people attend the 11 am worship service. They also have a Sunday school at 9:45 am and Wednesday evening Bible study and youth groups at 7:30 pm. The church has a school too. It’s called Northside Christian Academy. It teaches children from kindergarten through eighth grade.
Reverend Coggins’ story is woven into the fabric of Northside Bible Church. He arrived in Florida as a ninth-grader. He graduated from Chamberlain High School before going to Florida Bible College. He received a bachelor’s degree in biblical education. He’s even working on his master’s degree through a Dallas Theological Seminary branch. He and his wife Paula have been married for 26 years. They have three children Danny Esther and Kenneth.
Imagine Reverend Coggins planning a sermon on “When Everything Tumbles” from the book of Hebrews. This was before September 11th 2001. It’s a powerful message that resonates even more deeply now. The church helped its members understand the events of that time. They explored how to cope with evil in the world.
