North Lonsdale United Church isn’t just a church. It’s a living testament to faith resilience and community in North Vancouver. For over a century it has served as a spiritual home and a beacon of hope. Its story began humbly.
In 1913 four families established a small congregation in a rented store. This modest beginning was far from the impressive structure we see today. They called it Bethel Methodist Church. The name later changed to North Lonsdale Methodist Church. Finally in 1925 it became North Lonsdale United Church.
The church grew. It moved to its current location at Lonsdale Avenue and Osborne Road in 1950. A new building was erected in 1953. It wasn’t large enough. So an expansion followed in 1956. The building we admire today was completed in 1960.
