Flowing almost parallel to the Tamagawa River to its south is the Nikaryo-honsen River. Today we will discover this beautiful waterway together. The Nikaryo-honsen River is also known as the Nikaryousui Canal. You can also call it Nikaryou River.
The Nikaryo-honsen River is not actually in Tokyo proper. But it is a tributary of the Tamagawa River. It is located in Kawasaki. The Nikaryo-honsen River boasts some beautiful walking paths. That is why I wanted to show it to you.
I first discovered the Nikaryo-honsen River during a walk near Noborito Station. The Nikaryo-honsen River area lets you feel the relaxing flow of the Tama River. You can even play with the water in the river bed.
Near the Shukugawara Dam is the Tamagawa Ecomuseum. It is also called Nikaryo Seseragi-Kan. There you can find more information about the Tama River.
The Nikaryo-honsen River area has rich nature through the seasons. You can observe ayu. Ayu are sweetfish. They swim upstream. You can also see wild birds.
The Nikaryo-honsen River is part of an intricate waterway system. This system was created during the 17th century. It served the former capital of Edo. This system has left a lasting legacy on the area.
