Thousands of families pour into Nantou, bolstering its defenses and establishing Xin’an County. Ngau Tei Tun witnesses the bustling activity, the growth of a community within its shadow. Nantou, positioned on the South China sea route, thrives. It becomes a key player in the region’s trade, its fate intertwined with the ebb and flow of commerce. But change is inevitable. The Kowloon-Canton Railway’s completion shifts the economic center, eclipsing Nantou’s prominence. Ngau Tei Tun watches as the administrative heart moves to Shenzhen, a nearby market town. Yet, Nantou’s story continues. It lives on in the name of Nanshan District, a silent tribute to its historical importance. Even the nearby Nantou Subdistrict carries its legacy.
