Gazing up at Ngau Tam Shan, have you ever wondered about its other name? It was once known as Tai Lo Tian. Ngau Tam Shan stands tall at 337 meters. It’s a prominent peak next to Ki Lun Shan. A popular hiking route takes you from Kwun Tung South Road, past Kwun Tung Reservoir, then up Ki Lun Shan, through Ki Lun Shan Au, and finally to Ngau Tam Shan, ending at Tsiu Keng Pang Uk. This 6.5 km trek takes roughly 4 hours. It’s considered moderately difficult, with a four-star difficulty rating. Be warned, there’s no support along the way and lots of forks. Experienced hikers recommend going with someone familiar with the trails. To reach the starting point, take the KMB bus 76K to Kwu Tung Market Shopping Centre. From the peak of Ngau Tam Shan, you can enjoy panoramic views of Kwu Tung. You’ll even spot a pillbox, a reminder of past conflicts. And if you’re looking for a shorter hike, you can always finish at Ki Lun Shan Au, where you can catch minibus 57K.
