The Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre underwent a major renovation in 2002. This improvement ensured it could continue meeting the community’s evolving needs. In early 2004, the Exhibition Hall transformed into a multi-purpose Cultural Activities Hall. This change provided even greater versatility for various events.

The Theatre at the Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre is a traditional proscenium design with 354 seats. It is a perfect venue for various performances. These include drama, dance, Cantonese opera, music, and assemblies. The Cultural Activities Hall features variable seating and stage configurations. It can accommodate 61 to 106 seats. This hall is suitable for different performances, lectures, and seminars.

The Lecture Room spans 100 square meters. It accommodates up to 90 seats. It is ideal for seminars, talks, conferences, training classes, dance practices, and rehearsals. Dance and music practice rooms are also available. Two Art Studios provide space for rehearsals and small visual art performances.

The Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre’s commitment extends to promoting arts in the community. Since April 2009, the Venue Partnership Scheme has been in place. The current partners include E-Side Dance Company and Whole Theatre. This collaboration enhances the center’s artistic offerings.

Getting here is easy. The Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre is located at 2/F and 3/F of the Ngau Chi Wan Municipal Services Building. Its address is 11 Clear Water Bay Road, Kowloon. It is a short walk from Choi Hung Station. Take Exit B or C1.

Looking back, the government planned this community arts arena in the early 1980s. The Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre opened in 1987. It was initially managed by the Urban Council. In 2000, management shifted to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
