Opened in July 1995, New Yau Ma Tei Public Cargo Working Area stretches 1,230 meters. Its location is next to the new Yau Ma Tei typhoon shelter. Look around you. See the residential estates to the south and north.
Public Cargo Working Areas like this one provide essential seafronts. These areas are for vessel cargo operations. The Cargo Handling Section manages these operations. There are six Public Cargo Working Areas around the harbor.
These PCWAs offer a total of 4828 meters of berthing space. Operators lease berths through tendering. They transfer cargo across the seawall. Vanning and devanning operations occur here. Operators arrange their own facilities to load and discharge cargo.
The government levies charges on vehicles. Charges also apply to cargo operation areas. This happens when they use the PCWAs. On average, these areas handle about 5.8 million tonnes of cargo per year.

Add Operating Licenses of the vessels involved.
The processing time is seven working days. This starts when all documents are received.
Filming with pyrotechnics? Get permission from the Entertainment Special Effects Licensing Authority. For open burning or potential sea pollution, seek permission from the Environmental Protection Department.
Expect to pay $7,090 for the first four hours. Each subsequent four-hour block costs $1,990. A refundable deposit of the same amount is also required.
If you need extra government personnel or equipment, that will cost extra. The actual cost plus overheads will be charged.
