Ever considered a library that never sleeps? Here at the New Taipei City Library, the doors are open 24 hours a day. This amazing library is more than just books. It is a community hub and a beacon of knowledge.

The New Taipei City Library is the central library of New Taipei City. It stands proudly in Banqiao District. You will find it near the Taipei Metro Far Eastern Hospital Station. It is easily accessible to all. The library first opened its doors in 1948. The current main library building opened in May 2015. This marked a new chapter for learning in New Taipei City.

Before this modern structure, the old library opened in 1983. It had three floors. After the new main library opened, the old building became the New Taipei City Library Banqiao Jiangzicui Branch.

The New Taipei City Library boasts ten floors above ground and three below. Each floor is designed for a unique purpose. The tenth floor houses the administration office. Floors eight and nine are dedicated to reference materials. You will also find Western publications and multicultural collections there. The local collection and conference rooms are also on these floors.

Levels six and seven house stacks of books. There are also discussion rooms and reading corners with diverse themes. You can find an American style reading corner or even a Japanese Zen style one. On the fifth floor, immerse yourself in the Multimedia Area. It features an information commons, group multimedia area, and classrooms.

Level four offers a study room, comics, and manga. It also houses the New Taipei City District Resource Center and a sun room. Young readers can explore their own dedicated area on the third floor. The Young Reader’s Storytelling Zone and an auditorium are also located here. There is also a family reading area and even a breastfeeding room.

The second floor holds periodicals and newspapers. Bound periodicals and resources for senior citizens are available. The first floor provides circulation services. You can find 24-hour self-checkout and self-return options. Explore new arrival books in the New Taipei City Gallery. Braille materials and a coffee shop are also on this level. Parking is available on levels B1 to B3.
