Doesn’t the name New Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church just resonate with hope. Right here stands a beacon in Tampa. It is a place where lives are transformed and faith is ignited. Established in 1992 by Bishop Daniel M. Davy, New Life Tabernacle began humbly. The church started with fewer than ten people meeting at the University of South Florida.
Now, fast forward over thirty years. Thousands have discovered the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Apostolic faith. They call New Life Tabernacle home. Bishop Davy’s vision was clear. He wanted to raise a people who would serve God without compromise. His leadership focused on developing the whole person. He transformed Tampa into the City of the Apostolics.
New Life Tabernacle’s mission is to present the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. It transforms non-Christians into converts. It turns converts into disciples. Disciples then mature into passionate community leaders. This mission is achieved through prayer. It is done through preaching and ministries. Community engagement demonstrates the love of Christ.
Senior Pastor Rashidi Collins leads the church today. He continues with guidance from Bishop Davy. Pastor Collins was called to preach at a young age in Jamaica. Together they have two children.
New Life Tabernacle believes in one God. He is the creator of heaven and earth. This God is Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. They believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ. This involves repentance, water baptism in Jesus’ name, and receiving the Holy Ghost. Speaking in tongues is evidence of this experience. It is called the New Birth.
The Bible is the infallible Word of God. It is the authority for salvation and Christian living. Discipleship reflects Christ’s character. The church prioritizes systematic instruction and mentorship. They produce people who love God and others. This love leads individuals back to Christ. They live a life pleasing to Him. Prayer is vital. It allows people to communicate and build a relationship with God. Prioritizing prayer results in spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical change. Serving God means serving the community. Meeting the needs of others leads to stronger communities.
