In 1971, the original New Carrollton Branch Library was dedicated. Recently, the library underwent a full interior renovation. This renovation included an entrance addition. GWWO sought to create an aesthetically inviting and functional modern library. They used elements like light color and geometry.

The transformed New Carrollton Branch Library now covers 58500 square feet. The enlarged entrance has glass walls. This lets in more natural light. You will find a conference room and two meeting rooms here. There are also seven study rooms. Two are specifically for children. One is for teens. A quiet study room is available. You can also find a vending café and a Friends bookstore. A water bottle filling station is available for public use. The parking lot even has a dual-head charging station for electric vehicles.

Responding to technology, the renovation modernizes the facility. It accommodates the demands of the 21st Century. The New Carrollton Branch Library includes 66 computers for public use. There are 15 laptops for public instruction in the training lab. You can find 3D printing virtual reality and gaming in the Teen Zone. Digital signs display information on programs and meetings. Seating areas have easy access to power. This allows customers to bring their own devices.

The New Carrollton Branch Library’s collection has more than 50000 items. Its future capacity is 80000. The library also has special features. One is electric vehicle chargers. You can learn about the African American incorporated towns here.
