“A church inactive? You might ask. But the story of the New Bright and Morning Star M.B. Church is far from over. Right here in Tampa Florida stands a testament to faith resilience and community. This isn’t just a building it’s a living legacy.

The New Bright and Morning Star M.B. Church boasts a rich history. It started in 1917 as a small mission. A group of twelve dedicated individuals gathered for their first service. Rev JR Davis led the charge. They rented a storefront on West 28th and Detroit Avenue. This humble beginning transformed into something magnificent.

In 1919 the mission officially became a church. It moved to 2402 Superior Avenue. Mrs Nancy Holt a key member named the church Morning Star. She envisioned it as a beacon a shining light for the community. This name became incredibly important to its identity.

The church’s journey was marked by challenges. In 1935 a bomb destroyed their building on Detroit Avenue. They lost almost everything. But remarkably a Bible and a hymn book survived. This served as a symbol of their enduring faith. Services continued at different locations. They never gave up.

Through several moves and under various pastors the church persevered. Rev SL Cole played a critical role. He led the congregation to a new home in 1939. The church continued growing eventually acquiring a property on Parkwood Drive in 1950. The church’s dedication to its community is obvious.

Despite facing setbacks like the loss of its building the New Bright and Morning Star M.B. Church in Tampa thrived. Its enduring spirit is a powerful reminder of the strength of faith. It’s a story of resilience community and spiritual growth. Its journey inspires us. This church’s legacy is a vibrant testament to its unwavering commitment. Today we stand in awe of its story.”
