Tucked away on Blaine Street Northeast, the New Beginning Way of the Cross Church has a story to tell. It’s a story of faith, growth, and community impact, woven into the fabric of Washington D.C. New Beginning Way of the Cross Church isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to the vision of Bishop Bennett B. Gamble, Sr., a native Washingtonian. In 2001, he embarked on a mission to establish this church, and on October 14, 2023, celebrated 22 years of pastoral leadership. Under Bishop Gamble’s guidance, New Beginning Way of the Cross Church achieved remarkable milestones. One of the most significant achievements was paying off the church mortgage in just three years. Imagine the collective effort and dedication that took. Beyond its financial accomplishments, New Beginning Way of the Cross Church has touched countless lives. The Memorial Scholarship Ministry, for instance, has awarded over $30,000 to high school seniors. The church has also embraced community outreach, adopting the Unique Residential Care Center and the Shepherd’s Cove Men’s Shelter. And, perhaps most importantly, over 250 individuals have been baptized into the faith at New Beginning Way of the Cross Church. Bishop Gamble’s commitment extends beyond his role at New Beginning Way of the Cross Church. He serves as the General Secretary of the Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International. He also balances his pastoral duties with a 37-year career as a Public Affairs Specialist at the Department of Labor. New Beginning Way of the Cross Church invites everyone, whether seeking a spiritual home or simply curious, to explore its offerings. It promises a place of belonging and a journey towards Christ.
