The Naturfreundehaus Kappelberg’s story began in 1946. The local Naturfreunde group asked Fellbach’s city council for the former “Hitler-Jugendheim”. The building was in bad shape after the war. But the Naturfreunde members were determined.
They worked tirelessly to renovate the house. They dedicated their evenings and weekends to the project. On September 22, 1946, the Naturfreundehaus “Am Kappelberg” was inaugurated. Swiss and Dutch Naturfreunde joined the celebration.
Since then, the Naturfreundehaus Kappelberg has been a testament to the Fellbach Naturfreunde’s hard work. The members have maintained and improved the house. They have relied on support from the city of Fellbach. They also received support from Arbeiterwohlfahrt. The state of Baden-Württemberg and the Naturfreunde-Landesverband also helped.
Today, the Naturfreundehaus Kappelberg is a welcoming place for all. Dorothee Frey leads the house. It is a place for meetings and hospitality.
The Naturfreunde, founded in Vienna in 1895, are dedicated to environmental protection. They promote sustainable tourism, sports, and culture. The Fellbach group has been active for nearly 100 years. The international Naturfreunde movement includes about 500,000 people in 47 countries. Germany alone has over 400 Naturfreunde houses. There are nearly 1,000 worldwide.
The Naturfreundehaus Kappelberg offers overnight stays with 25 beds in six rooms. There is also a lounge and a self-catering kitchen. The house is usually open on weekends. Volunteers manage the house. From early June to mid-September, the house hosts the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Fellbach’s holiday programs. These include senior retreats and the popular “Waldheim” for children.
The Naturfreunde Fellbach hosts cultural events, hikes, lectures, and entertainment throughout the year. Guests are always welcome.
Getting here is easy. You can drive from Stuttgart on the B14. Take the Fellbach exit towards Kernen/Rommelshausen. After about 1 km, turn right onto the designated road.
The Naturfreundehaus Kappelberg is perfect for families. Its quiet, traffic-free location is ideal for children and youth groups. It provides a peaceful setting for seminars. The house offers simple overnight stays starting at 23.00 €. Children can stay for 8.00 €.
