In 1992, a seed of faith was planted in Manassas, Virginia. This seed blossomed into the Nativity of Our Lord Orthodox Church. The church wasn’t always the building you see before you. Nativity of Our Lord Orthodox Church started as a small mission parish. They held their first gatherings in a rented meeting room at a local hotel. Imagine the early parishioners, filled with hope and determination, sharing their faith in this humble setting. The parish quickly outgrew the hotel. They moved to an old grocery store on the edge of Old Town Manassas. Can you picture the transformation? From selling groceries to nourishing souls, the building took on a new purpose. Finally, the parish found its permanent home at 8911 Weems Road. The Nativity of Our Lord Orthodox Church has served the community here since then. This vibrant parish is part of The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. It falls under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Deanery of North America. More specifically, it’s within the Deanery of Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Gregory of Nyssa leads the church. The Washington D.C. Deanery administers the parish. They celebrate their feast day on December 24th, the Nativity of Our Lord. If you’d like to join them for Orthros, it’s held on Sundays at 9:00 am, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 am. Vespers takes place on Saturdays at 5:30 pm. You can reach them at nativityorthodoxchurch@gmail.com or call (703) 335-8752. Their website, nativityorthodoxchurch.com, offers more information. From a simple meeting room to a thriving church, the Nativity of Our Lord Orthodox Church stands as a testament to the power of faith and community.
