Before us lies n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed Dr. V\u00e1clava Hol\u00e9ho, a seemingly ordinary square in the Prague 8 district. Don’t let the unassuming name fool you. This square holds a piece of history that speaks volumes about the resilience of the Czech spirit. Originally, this space was a simple street named Blanick\u00e1, after the legendary Blan\u00edk mountain. In 1945, the street was transformed into the square we see today. However, it retained its original name, Blanick\u00e9 n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed. The renaming came just three years later. In 1948, n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed Dr. V\u00e1clava Hol\u00e9ho received its current title to honor a true Czech hero, V\u00e1clav Hol\u00fd. Dr. Hol\u00fd, a dedicated member of the Highest Price Order, a prominent figure in the Workers’ Academy, and a fervent resistance fighter during World War II. His fight against Nazi oppression led to his capture and eventual execution on a somber day in 1941. But his legacy lives on. Each time you utter the name n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed Dr. V\u00e1clava Hol\u00e9ho, remember the sacrifice. Remember the courage. Remember V\u00e1clav Hol\u00fd.
