Did you know Nadarzyn’s story stretches back to the Medieval Masovian Duchy? Nadarzyn is a village with a rich history. It lies in Pruszków County, Masovian Voivodeship. We are about 20 kilometers southwest of Warsaw. Nadarzyn is conveniently near the E-8 international road.
The first written record of Nadarzyn dates back to the early 15th century. Back then, the Nadarzynscy family owned it. They lived in nearby Rusiec. In 1453, Nadarzyn received town laws. Masovian Duke Boleslaw IV granted them. The 16th century saw Nadarzyn’s first school and hospital established.
During the Polish-Swedish Wars of the 17th century, Nadarzyn suffered damage. The old church was destroyed. A new one was built in 1661. Nadarzyn changed hands several times. Eventually, it fell under Prussian control during the Partitioning of Poland. In 1806, it came under Russian control. That same year, St. Clement’s Church was built. Jakub Kubicki designed it.
Nadarzyn did not sit out the Polish uprisings. Battles took place here during the Kosciuszko Insurrection. Also, the November Uprising of 1830 and the January Uprising of 1863 saw fighting in Nadarzyn. After the January Uprising, Russian authorities punished Nadarzyn. They revoked its town status. This was a common punishment for towns supporting insurgents.
After World War I, Nadarzyn became part of Poland again. However, the war had damaged many buildings. Today, Nadarzyn is known for several things. Many Warsaw residents choose to live here. They seek to escape the city’s noise and traffic. Nadarzyn offers detached houses and green neighborhoods. It is a pleasant place to live.
