Established in 1994 Myrstugubergets Friskola stands as Huddinge Municipality’s oldest friskola. A group of parents spearheaded its creation. They desired a small school emphasizing individual growth. A school close-knit and sensitive to its surroundings. This wasn’t just about academics. It was about fostering a sense of community. A place where different age groups and cultures could learn together. The original impetus was the closure of a municipal school in the early 1990s. Many families had moved to Myrstuguberget specifically for the existing small school. Its loss spurred action.

Initially fifteen students enrolled at Myrstugubergets Friskola. The school’s philosophy mirrored that of a traditional village school. It prioritized individual development. It fostered a sense of belonging. This original vision still shapes the school today. The emphasis remains on individual growth. It emphasizes closeness and an awareness of the environment.

The school’s structure changed in 2013. It transitioned from a cooperative to a limited company Mybe AB. Former parents on the board initiated this change. They felt parental involvement had waned. Managing a school with parents on the board had become cumbersome. This shift was seen as beneficial for the school’s future.

A significant development occurred in October 2022. A collaboration began with Grundskolan Metapontum and Forskolan Metapontum. This partnership provides a larger organizational framework. It supports Myrstugubergets Friskola’s continued success as a friskola in Sweden. Atvexa AB now acts as the school’s principal sponsor.

Today Myrstugubergets Friskola thrives. It welcomes approximately 125 students. It offers education from preschool to grade 5. It remains a testament to its founders’ vision. A vision of a supportive learning environment. A community focused school dedicated to the individual growth of each child. The school’s success is a story of resilience. It demonstrates the power of parental dedication. It illustrates the importance of community. It’s a story of adaptation and ongoing commitment to quality education in a constantly evolving landscape.
