These items offer a glimpse into his daily life, both before and during his papacy. One of the most captivating exhibits at Museo San Pio X focuses on his early life in Salzano. He served as the parish priest here from 1867 to 1875. Displayed are original documents written by Sarto during his time in Salzano. These include parish censuses, marriage and death registers, and even his personal catechism. These handwritten pages offer a poignant connection to the past. They reveal not just the administrator, but also the compassionate pastor who penned moving obituaries for his parishioners. Museo San Pio X also houses liturgical objects. As you ascend the stairs, a funereal tombstone catches the eye. This is the oldest in Salzano. It belongs to Father Giovanni Costantini. He died in 1738, almost a century before Sarto’s birth. A chasuble and stole from the late 17th century, a gift from Pius X himself.
