Murphys Glen Campground is perfect for independent campers. They escape the city for a weekend. You can pitch your tent among tall blue gums. Towering turpentines surround this campsite. Ready to explore? A short walking track takes you through the forest. It leads back up to Bedford Road.
As shadows lengthen, it’s time for a campfire feast. Enjoy the sounds of local nightlife. Possums sugar gliders and bats make a racket. Murphys Glen offers a true bush experience.
Getting to Murphys Glen Campground is straightforward. Head west from Sydney on the M4 and Great Western Highway. Turn onto The Appian Way before Woodford. Drive across the railway bridge. Turn right onto Railway Parade. Veer left onto Bedford Road. Continue around 2km to the national park boundary. This gate may be locked during wet weather. It may also be locked during high fire danger. From there it’s about 4km to the campground.
Bikes are permitted past the locked gate. The road to Murphys Glen can get boggy when it rains. Check the weather forecast before you go. Parking is available at the campground.
Remember to bring drinking water. There are no bins so take all rubbish with you. Fires are permitted in dedicated fireplaces only. Bring your own firewood. Generators are not allowed. This ensures peace for all campers. Pets are also not permitted. NSW national parks are no smoking areas.
Murphys Glen campground has only five campsites. Bookings can be made online for up to 12 people. Alternatively you can book two sites. This campground is not suitable for large groups. There are no camping fees. A $6 booking fee applies. The park gates have opening hours. They depend on the time of year. From the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April they are open 8.30am to 7pm. The rest of the year they are open 8.30am to 6pm.
