Mt Pindar Lookout is an informal spot. There are no fences or facilities here. This adds to the raw natural beauty.
Did you know that reaching this lookout involves a bit of an adventure? The journey often begins at Wondabyne Station. It is famously known as Australia’s only station without road access. Imagine arriving by train exiting from the last door of the last carriage because the platform is so short.
From Wondabyne Station you will walk. Follow the trail for about 1.3 km along the Pindar Walking Track to Mt Pindar Lookout.
The adventure doesn’t have to stop at the lookout. A short walk further will lead you to Pindar Pool. A refreshing reward after your hike. About 30 m past the end of the main trail you can find Pindar Cave.
The Pindar Cave walk is roughly 11.5 km long. It can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours. Some even take 2 days to fully explore the area. Keep in mind that the track can be rough and unclear in places. There are also very steep sections. It is recommended for experienced bushwalkers.
Navigating the trails around Mt Pindar requires some skill. Directional signs are minimal. Storms can also impact navigation. Always check weather conditions before you start your journey.
Despite the challenges the reward is worth it. At the top of Mt Pindar also known as a knoll you’ll discover a spectacular view over the Hawkesbury.
